How do we get from the airport in Providenciales to Blue Horizon Resort?
Once you arrive at the Providenciales airport (PLS), take a taxi to Walkin Marina. The taxi should cost about $18/per person. Once at Walkin Marina you can catch a ferry shuttle called "Caribbean Crusin" They run regular daily ferry shuttles to North Caicos. The ferry times can be checked on their website: (www.caribbean-cruisin.com) The ferry cost $25 per person one-way. Once on North Caicos, you can have a rental car waiting (approx. $65-$85/day) or our representative can arrange to pick you up and transport you to Blue Horizon Resort ($80 1-2 persons, $30/person 3 or more).
What places are there to visit on Middle Caicos?
There are endless possibilites to explore on Middle Caicos and, over the causeway, North Caicos. Where When How magazine provides an excellent and up-to-date map to guide your exploration.
Are there any grocery stores?
There are 4 small family run grocery stores on North Caicos only a short drive away where provisions can be purchased although, some items can be hard to come by. Blue Horizon Resort provides a grocery service and will be happy to arrange all of your groceries ahead of time and have them stocked in your cottage or villa on your arrival. Simply provide us with your grocery list 2 weeks before your arrival; a small service fee will apply. Click on groceries for a suggested list.
What type of equipment, gear and entertainment is available?
For guest use, there are bicycles; snorkeling gear, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and BBQ grill available for free. A variety of games, dominos, poker set and books are also available in the main clubhouse. Our new Hobie Kayaks can be rented.
Do you have internet access?
Yes...we have a wireless network.
Are there restaurants?
On Middle Caicos, Sapodilley's cafe is located at the nearby airport and serves local specialties; Daniel's Cafe is now also open for lunch and dinner. You can also take a short drive to North Caicos where there are numerous cafes and restaurants. My Dee's specializes in local, American and Italian cuisine, Frank's Cafe offers seafood and local dishes , The Silver Palm is seasonal and reservations are recommended and Miss B's has breakfast, lunch and dinner available. Catered meals can also be arranged and delivered to the resort by request.
Can we rent a car?
Yes...we can arrange a rental car from a local provider. Middle Caicos is a large island and the Causeway now connects us to North Caicos, so there are lots of sights to visit. Rates start at $65/day.
Can we snorkel right off the beach?
Yes...you can snorkel from the beach in and around Dragon Cay Cove. We can also arrange for private beach drop off areas for snorkel trips or arrange a private boat excursion to some of the best offshore locations.
What do I need to bring?
Dress is casual and comfortable shorts, t-shirts and bathing suits are the necessities for a typical day. Sunscreen, hat, water shoes and mosquito repellant for the evening are also advised. Bring a camera and capture some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see above and below the water!
Do you have air conditioning?
Yes...all cottages are equipped with A/C units. Although, Whale Watch & Seawings Villas are not air conditioned the constant trade winds are usually enough cool the cottages.
How is the fishing?
Middle Caicos has world class fishing. Bone fishing, deep sea, inside and outside the reef fishing are all available. Blue Horizon Resort can arrange for local guides to take you on any fishing excursion requested.
Is there scuba diving?
Scuba diving excursions can be arranged through our concierge services and usually are run out of Provo or North Caicos.
Beer, Wine & Spirits?
There is a liquor store on North Caicos in the My Dee's shopping center: beer, wine and spirits are available.
Is there medical facilities?
There is a nurse on-island, a clinic on North Caicos and full medical facilities on Provo.
